Welcome to the October edition of the Acupuncture Awareness Newsletter. The fall weather ushers in a seasonal change of cooler weather and also the cold and flu season. In this edition, I have highlighted an acupuncture point used in an acute cold or flu situation as well as information on how to receive my extremely effective cold and flu elimination protocol which will aid you in shortening the duration of a flu or cold to a few short days.
Spirit of the Points – “Great Hammer”
This is the 14th point on the Governing Vessel channel located on the posterior median line, in the depression between the 7th cervical and 1st thoracic vertebra (basically the boniest lowest part of the neck). Great Hammer can be used in acute illness for upper respiratory invasions of Wind and Cold and for febrile diseases since it reduces fever. Helpful for neck stiffness and pain, cough, common cold, sensation of fullness in the chest, fever and chills. Excerpt from the Tai Sophia Institute Spirit of the Points manual.
