Natural Relief from Cold Sores
Anyone who has had a cold sore knows how painful and hard to get rid of they can be. Cold sores are an outbreak of the herpes simplex virus in your body often triggered by stress. What you probably did not know is that a depletion of the amino acid Lysine can cause a cold sore outbreak and that eating too many nuts can deplete our Lysine stores.
Therefore adding Lysine topically or internally helps to accelerate a cold sore’s healing process. For cold sores on the inside of the mouth, you can take 3000-4000mg of Lysine a day internally to stimulate and accelerate the healing process. If you have a cold sore on the outside of your mouth (like on your outer lips or around the mouth) you should apply Lysine cream topically in addition to taking Lysine as a supplement. Lysine a.k.a. L-Lysine supplements and cream can be found at your local health food store.
